Vassa 雨安居

Today is the first day of Vassa and we have the opportunity to perform some Dana in a Buddhist Temple in Gothenburg. The word Vassa means "Rain" in the Pali language, which indicates a three-month annual retreat by the Theravada practitioners, usually from July to October. The monastics will remain in the same temple and will dedicate to more intensive meditation during the period. We as the laity expressed our respect and gratitude to the Sangha by offering food and robes.


今天是雨安居的第一天，我们有缘在哥德堡的佛教寺庙里布施。雨安居这个词在巴利语中的意思是“雨”，这里表示小乘佛教徒每年都会从7月到10月进行为期三个月的闭关。 这些僧伽将逗留在同一个寺庙中，并将在此期间专注坐禅修行。 我们作为俗人通过布施食物和长袍来表对僧伽的尊重和感激。
